RSIPF arrests 45-year-old male suspect for alleged murder in Malaita Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki have arrested a 45-year-old male suspect for an alleged murder incident of a 40-year-old male person at Kopo Village in Malaita Province on 14 January 2022.
Acting Provincial Police Commander Malaita province, Inspector Charles Edward Koto says, “It is alleged that the suspect beat the deceased with fire wood whilst in the suspect’s house. The deceased was transported to the Rohinari clinic and was pronounced dead upon arrival.”
PPC Koto explains: “Information police received, the alleged murder was in relation to land issue between the deceased and the suspect.”
He says, “The matter was reported to police and the suspect was arrested on 16 January 2022 and placed in police custody. A post mortem was conducted on the deceased’s body to ascertain the cause of death.”
“My condolences to the families and relatives of the deceased for the loss of their loved one.”
“The suspect still in police custody awaiting further dealings and a remand application.”
