Police Maritime conduct sea patrols during lockdown period

Police Maritime of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have conducted sea patrols from Poha to Alligator Creek Bridge to ensure there is no small boats and ships coming in and going out during the 60 hours lockdown started at 6pm on 19 January 2022.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “Restriction on movements of boats or vessels also applies during this 60hrs lockdown, any boat or ship seen moving in and out during lock-down will be dealt with seriously according to law.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “The lockdown is necessary as we experienced increase of COVID-19 community transmission here in Honiara. For those ships in Honiara and in the provinces please remain where you are, those people use to travel by boat please, remain home until 6am on 22 January.

Mr. Mangau says, “Exemptions will be for movements for medical reasons and will have to present themselves with appropriate documents to Police Maritime who will be patrolling the coastal waters of Honiara during the 60 hours lockdown.”
