Police enforces order on restriction of movement of vessels and aircrafts in Honiara

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) is enforcing order on emergency powers on restriction of movement of vessels and aircrafts in Honiara emergency zone starting from 6am today 22 January 2022.

The order was gazetted under emergency powers (COVID-19) (No. 3) Regulations 2021 Emergency Powers (COVID-19) (Honiara Emergency Zone) (Restriction of Movement of Vessels and Aircrafts) Order 2022

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “The order is enforced starting from 6am today 22 January 2022. No vessel will be allowed to leave Honiara port until the order is revoked.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “Aircraft must not land at or take off from a place in the emergency zone. The operator of an aircraft must not permit a person on board the aircraft to disembark from, get out of or jump from the aircraft anywhere in the emergency zone.”

Police are supporting the Ministry of Health and other government agencies as we experienced increased in COVID-19 community transmission in Honiara.

“It is an Order and police will arrest and charge any person who breach it under emergency powers.Let us work together with the Government in the fight against Covid-19,” says Commissioner Mangau
