RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley today met with the Secretary-General of Interpol, Mr Jurgen Stock at the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Conference in Guam.
INTERPOL is the international police organisation designed to promote police cooperation against global crime. More than 190 countries are members of INTERPOL and currently Solomon Islands has submitted an application to join.
It is anticipated that the RSIPF application for membership will be considered by the INTERPOL General Assembly in Beijing in late September.
Commissioner Varley and Mr. Stock discussed Solomon Islands' bid for membership and both agreed that should it be approved, the RSIPF would be a valuable world partner in the fight against transnational crime.
