The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) are closely working together with counterparts from Bougainville and Papua New Guinea Police (PNG) to investigate RSIPF officers at the Western border who allegedly beat up fishermen along the border between PNG and Solomon Islands recently.

Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “The Professional Standard Internal Investigation (PSII) Department of RSIPF has established its investigation into the matter to ascertain the border police actions on the matter.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “It will take time to finalise the investigation due to current COVID-19 community transmission now we are experiencing and how fast investigators get information from other counterparts from PNG and Bougainville.”

Mr Mangau says,

“My office will be receiving a report soon from my Bougainville counterpart through our channel of networks to further look into matters as part of the investigation.”

He says, “I don’t want to further comment on those small detailed quotes by the writer of the article as it is subject to investigation.”
