Police arrest three suspects in Honiara for different offences

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara City have arrested two suspects for Consuming liquor in a public place and one for common nuisance on 1and 2 of April 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “The two suspects were charged for consumption of liquor in certain public places, contrary to section 65 of the Liquor Act and the other suspect charged for common nuisance contrary to section 172 of the Penal Code.”

PPC Robo says, “The complainants on the incidents are the police officers from Honiara city. Officers doing arrests when on duty during a foot beat and vehicle patrols at Mbokona, small axe area in west Honiara.

Superintendent Robo says, “Drinking alcohol in a public place is a breach of law. Any person seen drinking from an open bottle of beer in places the public have access to will be arrested and charged.”

“Shouting and playing of loud music at night between 9pm to 6am, causing disturbances to neighbours and communities will be charged for causing common nuisance. Always be mindful and considerate of your neighbours and community when you drink your beers” says PPC Robo.
