Police arrest son for attempt rape of his biological mother in Choiseul Province

Police in Taro, Choiseul Province have arrested a 25-year-old male suspect for attempt rape of a 47-year-old female on 9 May 2022.

It is alleged that the son attempted to rape his mother while she was taking her bath.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria said the sad incident had occurred on 03 May 2022.
PPC Eria said the suspect was luckily saved by a police officer who resided at the same community. The suspect’s uncle intended to cut the suspect with the axe but the police officer stopped him and brought the suspect to Taro police station for further dealings.

Superintendent Eria said that it was alleged that the suspect has been involved in smoking marijuana for quite a while now but it is a matter for the right authorities to determine based on investigation.

Mr Eria said the suspect was interviewed and remanded for three days to complete the investigation. Police will decide to charge with attempt rape or an indecent act.

Currently, police investigators in Taro are still working on the file and awaiting further advice from the Director Public Prosecution (DPP) Office in Gizo about the matter.
