Police arrest a 23-year-old male suspect for raping a 14-year girl in Choiseul Province

Police in Taro, Choiseul Province have arrested a 23-year-old male suspect for raping a 14-year-old girl.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Superintendent Vincent Eria said the incident occurred on an unknown date between 1 February and 20 April 2022.
PPC Eria said the suspect and the victim of this rape incident are related to each other and they reside at the same village.
Superintendent Eria said the suspect were arrested on 2 May 2022 and Taro police are investigating the rape incident.
Mr Eria said the suspect was interviewed on 3 May 2022 and remand for three days to complete the file for the suspect to appear in court on 5 May 2022.
The case file was completed and later on 5 May 2022, the suspect was transported to Gizo and was currently remanded at Gizo Correctional Services.
