Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force at Henderson Police Station have arrested and charged a male person in his 30’s for the alleged murder of another male person at Peochakuri village in South Guadalcanal on 6 May 2022.

The cause of the death incident started with an argument in which the deceased was alleged to have attempt to rape his own daughter on several occasion prior to the murder incident.

The deceased was transported to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) for medical treatment after the incident unfortunately the victim died on 16 May 2022 after eleven days in critical condition.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Superintendent Ediwn Sevoa says, “The matter was reported at Henderson Police Station and the suspect was arrested on 19 May 2022 and placed in police custody.”

PPC Sevoa says, “The suspect has been arrested and charged with murder contrary to section 200 of the Penal.”

Superintendent Sevoa says, “I would like to remind our good people in Guadalcanal Province that taking someone’s life is the worst thing one can do. We all face problems in our lives but it does not mean that we should take the law into our own hands and take someone’s life.”

Mr Sevoa says, “Community and Church leaders were advised to handle such dispute issues and settled it at the community level, unless such dispute issues go out or seen to be out of their control, then the issue can be resorted to the police to avoid such sad incidents from happening.”
