Police arrest a 20-year-old male suspect for simple larceny incident in East Honiara

A 20-year-old male suspect was arrested by Criminal Investigators at Naha Police Station at Borderline bus stop yesterday (1 June 2022).

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Police, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said the suspect was arrested for a stolen mobile phone worth $3,000.00 at a Bangladesh shop at Kukum area on 27 May 2022.

PPC Robo said it is alleged that the suspect walked directly into the shop counter and grabbed the mobile phone on the counter and escaped.

Chief Superintendent Robo said the arrest was made successful with the help from the communities and this is what police expect from the communities.

Mr. Robo said the suspect was placed in police custody while investigation is continuing. The suspect will appear in Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on a later date.

He said the suspect is a well-known figure in the Kukum area for robbery incidents. He was recently arrested and imprisoned for larceny, robbery and other related charges.
