RSIPF, AFP conduct awareness talks at Macedonia Academy

Macedonia Academy in the Koa Hill recently welcomed visiting officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) contingent of the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF).

The Macedonia Academy opened three years ago, and already has approximately fifty (50) students. The RSIPF and AFP officers visited Macedonia Academy to deliver a policing awareness session to the students and to engage with teachers and members of the Koa Hill community.

SIAF AFP Acting Sergeant, Craig Pfeiffer said it was really nice to receive such a warm and positive welcome and meet the teachers and students. We look forward to building an ongoing friendship and partnership with the Koa Hill and Honiara communities.

The team talked to the children about road safety, and the role of police officers in the community. The talks are designed to educate the children to understand the importance of the police in the community and build their confidence to know when to seek assistance. The children enjoyed interacting with the police officers and were excited to receive pencils and policing activity books.

The Principal of the school, Ruth Edwards, thanked the visiting team and assured them of the school’s commitment to working closely with the police. Ruth said they value the visit as it is important that children are taught these important messages at a young age.

The RSIPF and SIAF AFP officers will continue conducting high visibility patrols and engagement activities as they work together with the community to keep the peace.
