The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) conducted joint Public Order Management (POM) exercises last week.

Under RSIPF ‘Operation Parliament’, the RPNGC and the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) contingents will support the RSIPF in maintaining law and order to ensure the continued safety of the Solomon Islands people, institutions and infrastructure.

RSIPF Commissioner Mangau thanked the regional policing partners RPNGC and SIAF for their ongoing partnership. He advised that during ‘Operation Parliament’ there will be high visibility police patrols including aerial patrols. The RSIPF and its partners are ready and equipped to detect and disrupt public disorder and will respond effectively if required.

Last week’s joint exercise with RPNGC is part of RSIPF ongoing ‘business as usual’ exercises and is necessary to ensure operational readiness and interoperability between agencies.

A key component of operational readiness is ongoing regular POM exercises, where members refine the skills from their training in real life scenarios. POM capabilities and training exercises provide realistic exposure to an active POM environment within local environmental conditions.

RSIPF thank the community for its ongoing support. Working together, we can keep our community safe.
