Police arrest and charge an adult male person for sexual assault incident in Honiara

Sexual Assault Squad (SAS) under the Office of the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) have arrested and charged an adult male person for sexual assault incident in Honiara on 3 August 2022.

The arrest and charge done after the alleged suspect sexually assaulted a female victim on 17 October 2021.

Director NCID, Superintendent Michael Bole said the matter had been reported to the SAS office last year and investigation was completed.

NCID Director Mr. Bole said the suspect were interviewed and charged with one count for sexual intercourse –Child under 15 contrary to section 139 (a) of the Penal Code Cap 26 as amended by the Penal Code (Amendment) (Sexual Offences) Act, 2016.

Mr Bole said the suspect were released on principal bail and will appear at the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 17 August 2022.

He appeals to our good people to show some respect to our young girls, women and children. Report any act of sexual abuse to any nearest police station should you came across any incident sexual harassment in our communities.
