Police investigate a suicide incident in Central Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi are investigating a suicide incident of a 30-year-old female person at Mabulu settlement in Small Ngella.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau said the suicide incident happened on 28 August 2022 at the home of the deceased where she allegedly hung herself with a linen cloth (lavalava).

Commissioner Mangau said the deceased tied a linen cloth on the cross-beam brace on the roof of her house and tied up her neck and hung herself.

Mr Mangau said police are working with the community on this suicide incident to establish what the real motives behind the suicide but there has been a family issue concerning the incident.

He said the deceased was a married woman with a small eight months old baby boy. Police appeal to those who may have any information about this suicide incident to liaise with Tulagi police.

The Police Chief expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased for the loss of their loved one. We pray for comfort during this sad moment.
