Police arrests a 30-year-old male person for alleged murder of his own brother in Makira-Ulawa Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Kirakira Police Station have arrested a 30-year-old male suspect for alleged murder of his own brother.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai said the murder incident has occurred on the month of July 2022 at Arohane Village in Central Makira and police arrested the suspect on 6 September 2022.

PPC Sitai said the matter was reported to Kirakira Police and investigation carried out. On the 6 September 2022, the suspect was arrested and charged for murder under section 200 of the penal code.

Superintendent Sitai said the defendant is currently on remand at Kirakira Correctional Centre as investigation continues. He will appear again in court on 21 September 2022.

Mr Sitai appeals to parties involved to refrain from taking the laws into their own hands as the matter before police for investigation.

He said this is an act of inhumanity which most sensible people do not want to see happening among families.

Family unit should be the foundation of any civilized community hence, such acts must be condemned in the strongest term.

Kirakira police appeal to members of the around that area who may have any information of the matter to come forward and help police with investigation.
