Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa Police Station, Renbel Province have investigated an attempt suicide at Lavangu over the weekend.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau says, “A young man in his 20’s had an attempted suicide after having a family issue.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “It was alleged that the young man asked his dad’s mobile phone to use it but his dad stopped it from him. After that he go out and attempted suicide.

Mr Mangau says, “Police have attended to the incident and caused an inquiry in the matter while the young man is under medical care for treatment.”

He says, “Such issue is a matter that we should avoid it to happen in our families. One to decide to take his own life just because the mobile is not good.

If there is any issue that needs to be addressed, good for us to look at different ways to assist in.”

The Police Chief says, “We have our youth leaders, women, Church leaders, chiefs and community leaders. These are the very own people in our communities. We need to seek help from them when we face unwanted situations in life.”
