Police arrest a 22-year-old male suspect for the allegation of murder of a 43-year-old male person in Honiara

The Serious Crime Team of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 22-year-old for the allegation of murder of a 43-year-old male person yesterday (11 October 2022).

Initial report stated that on 23 September 2022 at around 10pm at Rove Seafront pub, the deceased was standing with his friend and then walked towards the entrance of Rove Seafront pub. This was when the deceased was attacked and fell on the ground.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau said, it was revealed in a police investigation that the deceased lay down after the attack thinking that the deceased was too drunk so they did not check him.

Commissioner Mangau said, not until Saturday morning around 6am that they noticed that the deceased’s body was stiff and that is when they rushed him to National Referral Hospital (NRH) where he was confirmed dead.

Mr Mangau said, the suspect were charged for murder contrary to section 200 of the penal code. Currently the suspect is remanded. Investigation into the matter is still ongoing.

My condolence to the immediate family members for the loss of their love, said Commissioner Mangau.
