Police arrest a 40-year-old father for raping his own daughter in Western Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Gizo Police Station have arrested a 40-year-old father for raping his own 15-year-old biological daughter in Western Province.

The 40-year-old father was arrested after he raped his own daughter in two different times at their home.

First incident happened between an unknown date from 1 July 2021 and 31 December 2021 and second incident occurred on 7 October 2022.

Commissioner Mostyn Mangau said, it was alleged that the suspect molesting his daughter’s private part during the two occasions.

Commissioner Mangau said, the suspect has been charged for two (2) counts of Sexual Intercourse of Child Under 15 years of age: Contrary to Section 139 (2) (b) of the Penal Code (Ch. 26) (Amendment) (Sexual Offence) Act 2016.

Mr Mangau said the suspect was remanded at Gizo Correctional Facility on 10 October 2022 for his court appearance after 14 days.

He said, this is another inhuman act where the father as a head of the family is supposed to be the one who should protect his child. I condemn the alleged incident in the strongest term. It is inhumane, immoral and a serious crime.
