Police investigate fatal accident in Honiara

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department have arrested a 38-year-old male suspect in relation to a fatal accident at Kukum highway road opposite St. Barnabas Cathedral.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau said the accident occurred on 11 October 2022 around 7pm in the evening which involved a White Toyota Hiace public bus. The bus was travelling in a westerly direction when accidently hit a woman in her 60’s.

Commissioner Mangau said the driver of the bus assisted the women to National Referral Hospital at about 07:30pm and was pronounced dead.

Mr Mangau said a reconciliation has been conducted between two parties involved while investigation into the accident continues. Police work on the suspect remand application to remand him while doing the investigation.
