RSIPF welcomes public criticism

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) welcomes public criticism for an allegation of misconduct during a police raid over the weekend which claim that Police Response Team (PRT) involved.

Island Sun newspaper issue number 2705 reported that PRT is under public criticism over its treatment of a couple during a weekend raid.

The report stated that police threaten the couple to tell their involvement in the illegal business behind the NPF building, Pt Cruz, opposite Tongs building.

The island Sun newspaper further stated that some action taken by police on the couple is inhuman and also painted an unethical portrayal on the police officers.

Supervising Assistant Commissioner of Police, National Operations Mr Stanley Riolo said, “The PRT at no time during the weekend had involved in any raid as claimed by Island Sun newspaper.”

“Appreciate if this piece of information can be corrected to avoid negative perception by the public on our PRT operators. The PRT operators are innocent and are not involve in this raid,” said Mr Riolo.

Police acknowledges the communities for raising this concern and encourage concern people to come forward and formally launch their complains with Professional Standard Internal Investigation (PSII) to deal with the case.
