Business as Usual in Honiara: Police

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) wishes to advise the general public especially in Honiara that its “business as usual” this week as the parliament meeting convenes tomorrow (7 November 2022).

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau says, “We do not anticipate any problems and would like to encourage businesses, schools, clinics and other essential services to continue as normal. Be assured that the RSIPF is monitoring the situation and should anything arise, your police are ready to deal with it.”

Commissioner Mangau adds: “I call on all good law abiding citizens of Solomon Islands to remain calm and go about their business and lives as usual. Let us allow the democratic institutions like the National Parliament to perform their duties as mandated in the National Constitution.”

Mr. Mangau says, “Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have launched an operation to provide security at the National Parliament for the meeting. The operation has been activated and will run over the course of the parliament sitting to ensure peace and order is maintained. But should anything happen, the RSIPF is ready to deal with it.”

“I appeal to our good citizens, especially in Honiara to respect the rule of law and allow our Members of Parliament to continue to perform their roles as leaders of our country.

Refrain from unlawful activities. Unlawful activities such as Violence will only destroy our families, our communities and our country. Let us embrace peace in our hearts, in our families, in our communities and in our country,” says Mangau.
