MPNSCS and RSIPF having a Farewell Dinner to Outgoing CPLT member and PRC engineers in Honiara

The Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Service (MPNSCS) and Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) hosted a farewell dinner to Mr. ZHANG Yi, member of China Police Liaison Team (CPLT), Mr. LIU Xi and Mr. YAN Haoyu, PRC engineers in Honiara on 2 November 2022.

Permanent Secretary (PS) of MPNSCS Ms. Karen Galokale, RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau, Counsellor of PRC Embassy Mr. Yao Ming, CPLT Team Leader Commissioner Mr. Zhang Guangbao, Deputy Secretary of MPNSCS Ms. Julia Twumasi, Assistant Commissioner for the National Capital and Crime Prevention Mr. Simpson Pogeava, RSIPF Chief of Staff (CoS) Ms. Laisalyn Mua and other senior police officers from RSIPF attended the gathering.

PS Karen said on behalf of the Honourable Minister of MPNSCS Mr. Anthony Veke and the entire team in the Ministry and the government to the outgoing CPLT members, I acknowledge your humble services and contributions to the development of our police capabilities. Your contributions are indeed milestone achievements that also take the capability of our police force to another level. I am confident that the seed that you have planted here in terms of training you conducted and many friendly conversations you had with our officers will not disappear into thin air but germinate and bear fruits that will enhance our police capabilities in executing their duties effectively and efficiently.

Ms. Karen said the PRC Government has provided immense support through Covid-19 operations and capability and capacity building programs. We witnessed the culmination of training programs that the PRC provided being showcased at the Rove field. Apart from that, we also received a number of equipment and assets that contributed to building the capabilities and capacities of RSIPF. One of the projects to be delivered successfully is the digital VHF communication system for Honiara that will assist the RSIPF communication capability towards the Pacific Games
She thanked CPLT leader Commissioner Mr. Zhang for his continuous leadership and commitment to assist RSIPF. Please be rest assured that you have represented your office and country with dignity, and be certain that you have delivered your task with pride and honour.

“Lastly, as I mentioned the other time to the departing team that you should only take with the positive memories but leave the negative memories to linger on in our shores here,” says PS Karen.

PS of MPNSCS Ms. Karen Galokale and Commissioner of RSIPF Mr. Mostyn Mangau presented the Certificates of Appreciation and souvenirs to the three outgoing guests. They were deeply moved by the sincerity and friendship of the Solomon Islands colleagues.

CPLT Team Leader Commissioner Zhang said, I salute to my outgoing team member Mr. Zhang Yi and two engineers for your hard work and dedication to the police cooperation between China and Solomon Islands. I wish you a safe journey home. Since CPLT arrived in January, we always upheld the spirit of ‘professionalism, efficiency, inclusiveness, transparency’ for the purpose of friendship and goodwill. My team has provided training for nearly 400 RSIPF officers and assisted various projects totally more than＄40 million to RSIPF to boost the capacity and capability of RSIFP and support the safety and stability of Solomon Islands.

Commissioner Zhang said in the coming days, CPLT will expand training to more areas and develop long and stable police cooperation with RSIPF, work closely with other partners of RSIPF and support RSIPF to become the best police force in the region.
