RSIPF warn communities of bomb blasting in Choiseul Bay

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team will be conducting an unexploded ordnance (UXO) demolitions (bomb blasting) in Tarepasika on Choiseul Bay in the Choiseul Province from Saturday 12 November to Monday 14 November 2022.

The tasks will be carried out on two specific areas and that is relocating the bombs from Taro airport to Tarepasika, Choiseul Bay where they will be safely demolished those UXOs.The operation will be conducted from 8am to 4pm in those three days respectively.

Officer In-charge (OIC) of the RSIPF EOD team, Inspector Clifford Tunuki says, “The operation will be carried out within those specified dates only. Therefore, kindly urge the surrounding communities of Taro Island, Supizae Island, Tarekukure School and Nukiki village to keep out from the areas while the operation is progressing.”

Inspector Tunuki says, “It is advisable that our surrounding local communities in those areas to report any sighting of UXOs or bombs whilst the team is on the ground.

Further to that, the concerned surrounding communities are kindly urged to please cooperate with Police during the course of the operation.”

Mr Tunuki says, “I call on the communities in the Choiseul and across the country to report any sightings of any unexploded bombs through Police free toll line 999 or the RSIPF EOD mobile 7495215 or report it to any nearest Police Stations.”
