Yandina Police arrest 12 suspects for roadblock in Russell Islands

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Yandina have arrested 12 suspects for roadblock on 14 November 2022.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Superintendent David Soakai said a group of men from Alocan village set up roadblocks at a logging camp and armed with Knives, Spares and axes.

PPC Soakai said they entered the camp site, threatened them to stop their operation, and demanded the company for SBD $500,000.00 cash.

Superintendent Soaki said the local landowner did get hold of two logging excavator keys and threatened the employer of the logging operation to stop. The situation on the ground is still tense.

Mr. Soaki said Tulagi police are supporting Yandina police on investigation and charged the 12 suspects with unlawful assembly and demanding and bail them to appear before Yandina court circuit.
