Police investigates traffic incident involve a police officer who drive without a driving license

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department are investigating a traffic incident involving a police officer who drives a police vehicle without a driving license.

Director National Traffic Department, Superintendent William Foufaka says, “Investigation reveals that the officer has no driving license during the course of the investigation after a traffic accident at town council area.”

Director Foufaka says, “It is alleged that the incident occurred when the officer was driving westerly direction trying to avoid another vehicle when it accidently veered off the right driving path and climbed on a roundabout.”

Superintendent Foufaka says, “A file has been established and investigation is underway into the incident. The officer is yet to serve with the Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP).”

Mr. Foufaka says, “Investigation will look into who actually permits the officer to drive the vehicle without a driving license and government permit."

“As investigation into this matter continues,

I appeal to police officers who do not have driving licenses and government permits to stop driving government vehicles. This also applies to other government workers,”

says Director Traffic Mr. Foufaka.

He says, “As police officers we should follow the traffic rules and lead by example to other road users. This is not really good for us officers. Remember that nobody is above the law so let the law take its side to deal with such actions.

The traffic accident happened on 12 December 2022.
