Police reminds good people to take extra precaution measures during the bad weather

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is appealing to the good people of Solomon Islands to always think safety first when travelling during bad weather.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mangau says, “As it has been issued by the meteorological service of a tropical disturbance overlays the Solomon Islands. It is important for drivers, road users, and sea travellers to always make good judgement and prioritize safety when travelling on our roads or crossing streams or rivers.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “I want to remind the drivers that speeding must be discouraged when driving along the roads as the roads can be slippery during bad weather. Pedestrians are advised to always carry an umbrella to avoid catching the cold and getting sick.”

Mr. Mangau says, “Small boats are advised to be careful on making any trips during this bad weather. Travelers on ships please look after yourselves during this bad weather when travelling and to always inform others of where you are going.”

He says, “Since some houses reside along the coastal area in Honiara and villages in our provinces to consider safety during this bad weather.”

“Weather is unpredictable and at times we cannot overcome situations caused by nature. It is advisable to always reconsider decisions to travel during rough seas, strong wind and heavy rain,” emphasize Commissioner Mangau.

Parents keep your children indoors to avoid illness and accidents. Don’t allow them to play in the rain or the drain as flooding can occur due to the downpour.
