Police arrests 14 suspects for gambling in Honiara

Police Officers at Central Police Station (CPS) have arrested 14 suspects for play pass (gambling) at Rove market and Independence Valley at White River area yesterday (25 March 2023)

An Operation ‘Stopem gambling’ was successfully executed by the members of the CPS Support Team, Echo Shift, Central Response Team, Police Response Team and Solomon International Assistance Force officers.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City Police, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said eight suspects were arrested at Rove Market and six suspects were arrested at Independence Valley.

Chief Superintendent Robo said those suspects including eight males and six females which total up to 14 suspects were arrested. All suspects were released on strict bail conditions and will return for further dealings next week.

PPC Robo said this is just the beginning of the many police planned operations as part of the Green and Safe game strategy leading up to the Pacific Games in November 2023.

Mr Robo said more of such operations will be coming up so please my good residence we kindly encourage you to stay away from such activity. Police will raid and arrest at any time for those who will be involved in illegal gambling.

“I would like to convey my appreciation and acknowledgement to everyone who has been involved in the successful outcome of the operation,” PPC Robo said.
