Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested a 17-year-old male suspect for arm robbery on 9 April 2023.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Police Station, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said it was alleged that the suspect arm with a kitchen knife grabbed the victim and pointed the knife on her neck.

PPC Robo said the suspect threatened the victim to surrender her phone to him otherwise he would stab her with the kitchen knife. She had no option and released the phone to the suspect and the suspect escaped.

Chief Superintendent Robo said the victim and her friend were doing their research at the Honiara Botanical Garden on 5 April 2023 while the incident occurred.

Mr Robo said the suspect has been charged for arm robbery and will appear before the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on a later date.

“I urge the community at large to continue supporting the Police in their daily work to make our city a safe and a beautiful place where our citizens and visitors enjoy to live,” he added.

PPC Robo thanked those particular people of the public that have supported the police with information and an arrest was made by the operation team during the Easter period.
