The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) visit to the Games Venue gives more insights in preparation for the Pacific Games 2023.

The RSIPF Security Planning Team and China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) made the visit to different venues as part of the security plan for the PG23 today (20 April 2023).

Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operation Evelyn Thugea who is a board member within the Games Organizing Committee (GOC) and Chair lady of Security said the RSIPF and the CPLT team visited different venues to scope its plan in terms of security preparation towards the PG23.

AC Thugea said we have discovered many places that we need to adjust and proposed our security plans before the actual event is going to happen. Our visit to the games venue gives us more insights in our preparation.

Thugea said we will work together with our stakeholders to fill in the security gaps before the actual event happens at the end of this year 2023. It is not easy but with the collaborative effort we establish from different stakeholders we are confident that we can provide a safe environment for the PG23.

“Thank you for allowing us to come and take firsthand information from the Games Venue.

This will help us in terms of security planning. This is the kind of cooperation encouraged to make things happen when we talk on security,” said AC Thugea.

Deputy Team Leader (DTL) Mr. XU Qu of CPLT said a more comprehensive view gained by the security planning team with the introduction from Project Managers of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).

DTL Mr. XU said this site visit is also a continuation of the previous workshop on security event planning delivered by experts from CPLT this week. Based on the situation of the site, the two teams exchanged more on the security planning of the upcoming major event, including the very important people, security planning, crowd, traffic control and arrangement of security manpower.

He said today’s site visit is important for security planning, and it marks a new stage for the cooperation between CPLT and RSIPF. CPLT is willing to contribute more to the safe and green PG23 via further cooperation with RSIPF.
