Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support (NSOS) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) Mr Ian Vaevaso has acknowledged China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) for building RSIPF capacity and capability.

DC Vaevaso said that he is aware that partner CPLT and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Ministry of Public Security are taking greater importance in building the capacity and capability of RSIPF to be an effective and capable police force that would serve the needs of its people.

Deputy Commissioner Vaevaso acknowledged with deep gratitude, transparent and honest friendship, relationship and cooperation. Since the bilateral relationship between the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, RSIPF and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of PRC was established, RSIPF has benefited deeply and extensively from PRC support and assistance.

Mr Vaevaso said CPLT have delivered police equipment, mobility assets and implemented a number of assisting projects like the digital communication system, the INTERPOL Enhancement 24/7 system, Forensic Autopsy Laboratory, equipment storage facility and many more projects that are coming soon. This proves to us that PRC, more especially MPS through CPLT, is very genuine in its relationship and cooperation with RSIPF and Solomon Islands.

DC NSOS is greatly delighted that capability training is also continuing since then until today and it now will continue to reach other provinces as well once funding is available.

CPLT are investing more on RSIPF offshore training, with 33 RSIPF officers receiving training in Fujian Police College in China last year. About 30 more RSIPF officers are currently in China doing advanced capability training.

Some more leadership and capability training batches will be contacted in China before this year runs. MPS through CPLT will also coordinate more onshore trainings here in Solomon Islands.
