Munda Police arrest and charge a 35-year-old male person for assaulting a female victim with a Bluetooth speaker
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Munda Police Station have arrested and charged a 35 year-old male person for assaulting a 39-years-old female victim at Kindu village in Munda, Western Province on 15 June 2023.
It was alleged that the suspect assaulted the victim with a Bluetooth speaker on her face.
During the RSIPF Commissioner’s weekly Press Conference, Commissioner Mostyn Mangau said, “Initially, the accused and his friend were drinking alcohol on the main road when the victim’s nephew asked them to lower their music because it was already late at night.”
Commissioner Mangau said, “Suspect and his friends do not want to listen and instead they swore at the victim and those who live at the residence.”
Mr Mangau said, “The victim invited the accused and his friend into their residence to sort out the issue of using abusive words. However, the boys declined and invited the victim and her nephew to go out to them instead.”
“When the victim stepped out of the fence, the accused swung the Bluetooth speaker at the face of the female victim. As a result of that she fell on the ground and was later transported to Helena Goldie Hospital where she is admitted. The victim’s condition is stable,” Commissioner Mangau said.
The 35-year-old accused is charged with unlawful wounding contrary to section 299 of the penal code and will appear before court at a later date.
