NCPD complete first economic crime prevention workshop in Honiara
Fifteen police officers of the National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) completed a workshop on Economic Crime Prevention recently.
The workshop was organized on 22 June 2023 by experts from China Police Liaison Team (CPLT).
The topics covered in the workshop include concept, current situation and characteristics of economic crime, the constitution of economic crime cases, types of economic crimes with high incidence in enterprises, reasons why businesses fall victim to economic crime, enterprise economic crime prevention measures and introduction of public awareness improvement of economic crime prevention.
Director NCPD Superintendent John Matamaru says, “This kind of crime needs skills and knowledge. We have a lot of these kinds of crime cases in the regions. People move from countries to another countries with economic activities.”
Director Matamaru says, “To our department, awareness is very important. Although today’s workshop is short, we still learn a lot from the CPLT experts on economic crimes.”
CPLT criminal investigation expert Mr. Zheng Xiaoren says, “With the economic development of Solomon Islands, problems on economic crime will become one of the challenges to RSIPF. It is important to prevent it before it happens. We are looking forward to more discussion on different topics on economic crime.”
