Police visit hotspot areas in Honiara

A female RSIPF officer search areas at the Central Market during the operation

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Honiara City Police and our security partners have visited crime hotspot areas in Honiara last week.

As part of the preparation for the Pacific Games 2023 (PG23) police is gearing up its police presence in some of the hotspot areas in Honiara to reduce crime.

Areas visited during the high visibility operation were Talise, Borderline, Kobito and Central Market.

Supervising Operation Manager, Honiara City Police Inspector Tex Tafoa said during the operation we visited hotspots and did awareness talks to the market vendors.

Inspector Tafoa said the awareness talks encouraged and urged the market vendors and members of the general public to work together with the police as we prepare towards the PG23.

Operation Manager Mr. Tafoa said the officers also remind the general public to report any crime to police that may occur at the market or in our communities.

Mr. Tafoa said at Talise market, the police team has confiscated a few 1.5 litre bottles of kwaso (homebrew). No arrest has been made since the suspects escaped before the police arrived.
