RSIPF Support Avaiki Netball Tournament
Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is one of the supporters of the Avaiki Netball Challenge that was opened in Honiara on 5 July.
RSIPF Operations Manager for Honiara city, Inspector Tex Tafoa, was joined by members of the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) and the RSIPF and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) in witnessing the opening of the tournament at the SMI Netball courts at townground.
During the opening, Inspector Tafoa gifted netballs to be used in the tournament on behalf of the RAPPP’s Health Wellbeing and Community Engagement project.
The netballs will be used by competitors in all upcoming matches, keeping local netballers happy, healthy and achieving their goals.
The netballers from Rennell-Bellona Province offered traditional gifts in return, making the event very special.
RSIPF, RAPPP and SIAF conveyed their best wishes to all the teams that are participating in the tournament.
“I am sure we will see some of these talented young netballers playing in a future Pacific Games,” Leading Senior Constable, Tony Roche, of SIAF said.
The tournament continues this week at the Netball courts behind the Multi-Purpose Hall in Honiara. All are welcome to go along and offer support.
