Samoa police in the country to share experience with RSIPF in preparation for the PG23
Three officers of the Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services (SPPCS) are in the country to share their policing experience with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Pacific Games 2023 (PG23) Planning Team in preparation for the Pacific Games in November.
The team arrived in the country on Sunday 16 July and will leave tomorrow 20 July 2023 after visiting various departments of the RSIPF.
The team was able to visit RSIPF Police Maritime, Australian Federal Police (AF) operation office in Honiara, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team at Hells Point and the RSIPF Executive.
The RSIPF also shared its drone, Maritime and EOD capabilities to the three-member team who were in the country as part of the visit.
The three-member team from the SPPCS planning team has vast experience in the last Pacific Games in 2019 in Apia, Samoa, is here on the request of the RSIPF.
The SPPCS and RSIPF Planning Teams’ exchange program was an initiative of the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF), Australian Federal Police (AFP) and RSIPF Planning Team through financial support from the Samoa-Australia Policing Partnership (SAPP).
RSIPF Deputy Commissioner (DC) National Security and Operation Support Mr. Ian Vaevaso thanked the SPPCS officers for accepting the request from the RSIPF to come and share their experiences.
DC Vaevaso said the support in terms of sharing information would really help the RSIPF officers in the planning team in their preparations for the PG23.
“The visit by the Samoa police officers will benefit the RSIPF in its preparations for the games given their policing experience in big events like the pacific games that was held in Samoa,” DC Vaevaso said.
