A male person dead while other three in critical condition after a fatal accident over the weekend

A male person died while other three people are in critical condition after a fatal accident along the Kukum highway road, Bahai area in Honiara.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau during his weekly media conference said the fatal accident happened on 17 September 2023 between 1am and 2am, which involved a grey Toyota Caldina registration number T0067.

Commissioner Mangau said the car was travelling westerly towards the junction at Bahai leading up to Saint Nicholas conjunction and it accidently hit the edge of the median stripe of the said junction and ended up swerving towards the building shop at the left side of the main road.

Mr Mangau said all of them were transported to National Referral Hospital after the accident and a male person was pronounced dead by the medical authority while the other three in critical condition. The victims and the deceased of the fatal accident from Malaita.
He said it is sad that all the passengers and the driver are under the influence of liquor. One of the passengers at the back of the car was actually the deceased.

Since our roads are now upgraded drivers need to be careful when driving. If you are behind the wheel please do not drink beer, if you intend to drink beer find someone to drive you,” said Mr Mangau.
Enquiry file has been established and investigation into the fatal accident is continuing.>/blockquote>
