UK police experts provide two days’ workshop on Command Awareness in preparation for the PG23 to RSIPF

A two-day Command Awareness workshop for the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) was successfully completed last week (15 September 2023).

Police experts from the United Kingdom (UK) College of Policing delivered the awareness to the RSIPF at the Rove police headquarters.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau says, “Chief Superintendent Claire Armes from the United Kingdom College of Policing and Chief Superintendent Matt Lawler, representative from the UK National Police Coordination Centre were in the country to deliver the training to the RSIPF.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “The UK officers travelled to Honiara upon RSIPF request to equip our team leaders who will be actively engaged in operations on these upcoming events with the appropriate knowledge and skills.”

Mr Mangau says, “The guest facilitators were made possible through the bilateral arrangement with the British High Commission in Solomon Islands. RSIPF are grateful and really appreciate the organizers for making it happen.”

Officer In-Charge (OIC) Sexual Assault Squad (SAS) of the RSIPF Inspector Rose Nala who participated in the workshop says, “As a manager, I treasured this workshop as very valuable in my policing career.

Inspector Nala says, “It has reminded me, in order to tackle whatever situations arise, in terms of decision making. I must always refer back to the basics, according to the decision model, which I have learnt in this workshop. Keep it simple and stick to the decision model as a guide.”

Eighteen males and six female RSIPF officers who participated covered several topics that will definitely enhance their ability to make decisions wisely and deliver the service to our people.
