The Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) has welcomed two New Zealand (NZ) Police Advisors in the country recently.

The two new advisors are attached to Solomon Island Police Support Program (SIPSP) and they will work with National Community Policing Department (NCPD) and Learning and Development (L&D) during their deployment period.

New Advisor to RSIPF under SIPSP Sergeant (Sgt) Tony Nga Chun says, “For a number of years I have thought of deployment opportunities overseas. The appeal is being based overseas and working alongside the RSIPF in a unique environment whilst exposed to the Solomon Island people and their culture.”

Sgt Nga Chun says, “This deployment gives me a great chance to learn in the country and I look forward to my time in the Hapi Isles.”

Senior Sergeant (SSgt) David Litton says, “I am honoured to be chosen to be able to represent NZ Police in this support role with the RSIPF. I come from a small town in the Bay of plenty where there are beautiful beaches but it may not be as warm.”

“I have 25 years’ experience with the NZ Police working in both training and operational roles. I hope to share these learnings and help to use this to further build the capability within the RSIPF. I have only been here for a few days and everyone I have met has been so very friendly. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity here in the Solomon Islands,” says SSgt Litton.

Team Leader, SIPSP, Inspector Warwick McKee said we are fortunate to have two great advisors with significant experience in all aspects of Policing. One will assist the RSIPF within the NCPD and the other within LD. All of our team are proud to assist and work alongside our RSIPF brothers and sisters.
