The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) thanked the general public for the peaceful celebrations last night during the Sol2023 Pacific Games official opening ceremony at the National Stadium at East of Honiara.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “The opening ceremony is a success, I am happy to inform everyone that there were no major incidents reported during the ceremony last night.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “Last night’s event is our pride, we have shown our Pacific Island countries what it means to us and how prepared we are in terms of security to ensure that all have a good experience, are safe and secure.”

Mr. Mangau says, “There are police posts erected in several locations in Honiara to provide security during the games. Police officers posted there are to make sure that there are no disturbances to disrupt the peace.”

He says, “National Traffic Department of the RSIPF is also working very hard to make sure all road users follow traffic rules prior, during and after the official opening ceremony program.”

The Police Chief says, “I am looking forward to more good behaviour throughout the duration of the games and onwards.”

The RSIPF would like to remind the general public, if you need assistance do not hesitate to approach and seek assistance from our RSIPF officers.
