Police at the Kukum Traffic Centre in Honiara have formally arrested and charged 10 drivers over the weekend (21-22 October 2017) and will appear before the Honiara Central Magistrates Court following a weekend operation.
The drivers will face charges including
• Careless Driving;
• Presence of alcohol in person’s blood;
• Dangerous Loading;
• Using Unlicensed motor Vehicle; and
• Failure to display Motor Vehicle License.
These offences were alleged to have been committed along Mendana Avenue, Kukum High Way and Kola Ridge Road in Honiara City.
Acting Director of Kukum Traffic, Police Inspector Brian Surimalefo warns vehicle drivers, “if you thinking of driving your vehicle do not drink alcohol and if you thinking of drinking alcohol, do not drive your vehicle”.
Inspector Surimalefo adds: “Vehicle drivers are also reminded to be careful and have consideration when driving along the roads and must ensure their vehicles are not overloaded with goods or passengers to avoid accidents.”
“All vehicle drivers and owners must ensure that their vehicles have valid licenses and the licenses are displayed on the vehicles before they can travel on the roads,” says Inspector Surimalefo.
