Commissioner Mangau acknowledge public for the good behaviour during 17th Sol2023 Pacific Games

The Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Mr. Mostyn Mangau thanked the members of the general public, spectators and athletes for good behaviour shown during the 17th Sol2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mangau said, “It has been proven that with the support from other security partners we successfully provide safe and secured Pacific Games. Thank you to all good law abiding citizens of Solomon Islands.

Commissioner Mangau said, “Your understanding and working collaboratively with your police RSIPF is paving a way forward for other countries to see that we truly are a happy Isles and this is the kind of spirit we need in any future events.”

Mr. Mangau said, “Generally there are no major significant issues that have occurred during the two weeks of the games event and I salute you for that. Thumbs up and keep this kind of behaviour.”

He said, “Such an image will help us to safely host such big events in the future. There were no major incidents reported during the two weeks program. I would like to thank my officers who took part in the successful operation and supporting security partners.

“I would also like to thank those private securities, volunteers, Games Organising Committee who worked very closely with the police in making sure people enjoy this historic event in the Honiara," said Mr. Mangau.

During a light refreshment held at Guadalcanal Beach Resort (GBR) over the weekend for security partners, the Honourable Prime Minister (PM) Manasseh Sogavare said, “… the event of the last two weeks, you police officers including Correctional and deployed defence force have put your lives on the line of duty for us every single day and night to ensure that the lives of our people, our guests and more so, our Solomon Islands successfully deliver the 17th Pacific Games 2023.

Prime Minister Sogavare said, “… you have just done that. The games have been delivered successfully and have placed Solomon Islands at the highest record in terms of hospitality, peace and security.”

“Evidently, for the past two weeks of the games law and order peace and national security are in tack in the country. Our participating athletes and visitors were able to enjoy the tranquillity of our environment in true spirit of sport and excitement,” PM Sogavare.
