Villagers found dead body of a male person at SI-PNG border

Villagers at Komaleai, in the Shortland Islands have found a dead body of a male person when they travel to Buin for market on 3 February 2024.

It was confirmed that the dead body is a Solomon Islander from Malaita who was married to a woman from Lagovis village in south Bougainville.

It was alleged that the deceased (Mark Iro) died during a fishing trip from Bougainville on Friday 2 February 2024.

The deceased and his brother (Ben Iro) arrived in Bougainville some years ago in search of their father (Michael Iro) who left the country to Bougainville after the crisis.

The Transnational Crime Team of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) continues liaising with its counterpart in Bougainville regarding the matter.

The body of the late Mark Iro was buried at his wife’s village in Bougainville. Condolences to the immediate family and relatives of the deceased for the loss of their loved one.
