Police will roll out awareness to communities in the country prior to NGE 2024
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) soon will roll out their community engagements plan all over the country as National General Election 2024 (NGE24) comes closer.
This was a result of the Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) and Directors of the RSIPF spent a weeklong conference here in Honiara deliberated and developed operational work plans and priorities for the NGE24.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention (NCCP) and Chairperson of the NGE24 Mr. Simpson Pogeava said the conference purposely discussed how to operationalize the synchronized NGE24 event.
AC Pogeava said this also aligns and links to the implementation of the organization Annual Business Plan 2024 and the RSIPF Strategic Directions 2021 to 2025.
Mr. Pogeava said soon you will see RSIPF officers will be engaged in the communities across the country to conduct awareness to our people on their responsibilities as voters and the responsibilities of the RSIPF as the lead agency who deals with security issues.
He said the RSIPF will also conduct awareness on election offences and penalties. This will help our citizens to know so that they will assist police should there be any breaches that could happen during the election processes.
“I appeal to the good people of Solomon Islands, as we will exercise our democratic rights to vote for a leader to represent us in the parliament, to work together with police when dealing with breaches related to Electoral offences,” said AC Pogeava.
The Chair of the NGE24 encourage people of the country to exercise their democratic rights to vote for a leader who will represent you in the National Parliament or at the Provincial Government and Honiara City Council. RSIPF your police will support the electoral officials and respond appropriately to any breaches of electoral offences.
Assistant Commissioner Pogeava made it very clear that RSIPF is a neutral organisation and will not support any political party or individual candidates for the NGE24.
