NZ Police training for RSIPF-PTOs in Honiara
Provincial Training Officers (PTOs) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) across the country have recently completed their one week training held at Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara recently.
The training provides skills and capability building for the PTOs to allow them to deliver the best training to their respective staff within the provinces.
The training was led by the Solomon Islands Police Support Programme (SIPSP) New Zealand Police Senior Advisor Dean HENDERSON together with the staff at the Rove Police Academy Department.
During the training Australia Defence Force (ADF) medics assisted with their expertise in First Aid training.
NZ police Team Leader (TL) SIPS, Inspector Warwick Mckee says, “The training focused on the PTOs building their capacity and their training included enhancing their computer skills.
TL Inspector McKee says, “PTOs have completed two days of first aid training, and they were trained in delivering the refreshed 5 step Mindset Training and were required to deliver a presentation on how they contribute to the Crime Prevention Strategy.”
“Highlights from the week were receiving the two days first aid training and enhanced computer skills and being able to understand and deliver the Crime Prevention Strategy is a major part of their daily roles within their Provinces,” says Inspector McKee.
NZ Police Acting team leader Peter PAYNE says, “The RSIPF-PTOs have completed this training and are further equipped to continue the training in their Provinces.”
The RSIPF PTO’s play a vital role in ensuring that all RSIPF staff have access to training to ensure continuous improvement and to develop their skills, knowledge and experience. This in turn will allow them to deliver the best service each day to their communities.
