About 40 plus RSIPF officers complete three days Command awareness training as part of the preparation for NGE24

About 40 plus Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have completed a three days training on command awareness at Rove police headquarters last week.

The 40 plus Honiara based RSIPF officers who attended the training from different departments and units within the RSIPF as part of the preparation for the NGE24.

The training has been provided by the two facilitators from the National Police College in the United Kingdom (UK) who arrived in the country on 26 February 2024.

The command awareness training program is a National Decision Model (NDM) that has been adopted by UK police. It focuses on making good decisions during operations and to continue to protect and serve the public during fast moving incidents.

During her closing remarks, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Operations and the overall commander for the NGE24 Juanita Matanga thanked the two facilitators for their time to share their expertise with RSIPF officers on command awareness.

DC Matanga also appeals to the RSIPF officers who attended the training to apply what they have learnt during the three days training as we prepare for the NGE24.

British High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Tom Coward in his remarks during the official opening program highlighted the vital role of police officers to keep law and order, prevent violence, and allow citizens to vote freely without fear, as a vital part of democracy.

HE Coward says police provide support to ensure a credible election process and investigate any potential breaches of the election process.

Commissioner Coward has mentioned to the officers that building good community relations prior, during and after the election builds confidence as we go towards the NGE24.

Director National Department (NTD) Superintendent William Foufaka on behalf of the RSIPF officers have thanked the two facilitators for sharing their knowledge and course participants present a small token of appreciation in a form of gift.

The RSIPF Executive also attended a one day similar training on 1 March 2024 at Rove police headquarters.
