Police investigate a rape incident in Choiseul Province

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Taro police station have arrested a 23 year old male person for the allegation of rape of a 12-year-old girl in North West Choiseul.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Choiseul Province, Inspector Elliot Ngilli says, “The 12 year-old-girl went by herself at the beach on 23 March 2024 and did not return as expected so her family searched for her but no sign of her.”

PPC Ngilli says “When the matter was reported to police on 25 March 2024 and investigation has revealed that the girl was abducted and raped by the suspect.”

Supervising PPC Ngilli says,

“The suspect has been charged and remanded at Gizo Correctional facility. The suspect will appear before the Gizo Magistrates’ Court on a later date.”

“Please my good parents look after our little children. Such an incident is really a sad one for our young girls. Take good care of them and make sure we know who they are with and where they go,” says Mr. Ngilli.
