Police commend public for a peaceful polling day

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) have commended the public for a peaceful polling day on 17 April 2024.

RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau said this is what your police-RSIPF have been expecting from our people, a peaceful joint election.

Commissioner Mangau said it is good to see people move freely to cast their votes for their preferred leader to represent them in Honiara City Council, Provincial Government and the National Parliament.

Mr. Mangau said your police RSIPF have been making sure that the vicinity around the polling stations are safe for all voters to exercise their democratic rights.

“Counting of all ballot boxes will progress soon after they reach the provincial headquarters. I urge supporters to respect the counting process and respect whatever the results may be. Whether it be in your favor or not, I emphasize that we keep the peace and respect our fellow wantoks,” said Commissioner Mangau.

He said your police, RSIPF, will provide a heavy police presence in all counting venues around the country and so I appeal to you, my good law abiding citizens to do the right thing and respect the process and accept the outcomes of the results.
