Police increase security ahead of PM election
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Solomons' International Assistance Force (SIAF) are bolstering their security operations in Honiara ahead of tomorrow's (2 May) Prime Ministerial election.
The RSIPF and SIAF are deploying an array of measures to ensure the safety and security of Honiara residents and properties.
RSIPF and SIAF officers have increased their foot and vehicle patrols throughout Honiara. This is to maintain Police high visibility and provide immediate assistance if required.
Utilising helicopters and drones, the RSIPF and SIAF are also conducting aerial surveillance to monitor activities from above, enhancing their capability to swiftly respond to any incidents.
The RSIPF and SIAF have also deployed boats to patrol the seas surrounding Honiara, ensuring full coverage and safeguarding against any potential threats from the water.
These measures highlight police commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and businesses in Honiara and to provide a safe, secure and peaceful environment during the election of a new Prime Minister.
Police stand firm against any form of intimidation that may undermine the Prime Ministerial election. It is important that elected Members of Parliament exercise their right to vote a new Prime Minister without fear or undue influence.
Police are urging Honiara residents to report any suspicious activities or concerns to the RSIPF.
The RSIPF, in collaboration with SIAF, is fully prepared to ensure the safety and security of Honiara during this critical election
