Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Tigoa police station are the latest recipients of the Crime Prevention Strategy (CPS), Mindset and Family Violence training this week in Renbel province.

The New Zealand Police (SIPSP) alongside the RSIPF Provincial Training Officer Sergeant Henry Oneone, and NCPD Sergeant Tamaeri Cheong delivered the training in Tigoa.

The training allows officers to understand the relationship between the RSIPF strategic direction, the RSIPF Crime Prevention Strategy and the work each RSIPF officer completes each day in their communities.

Participating RSIPF officers are pleased and conveys their appreciation on learning how their daily work is reflected in the Crime Prevention Strategy and in reducing harm and victimisation in their communities.

Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Renbel Province, Sergeant Henry Oneone thanked SIPSP for bringing the Crime Prevention Strategy (CPS), Mindset and Family Violence training to Rennell and Bellona province.

Sergeant Oneone says, “We have had previous courses delivered to my staff, but this course was relevant to my position and that of my team who daily work in a challenging environment with limited resources.”

The attendees also received refresher training on family violence were encouraged to take positive steps to ensure victims of family violence are well supported, family violence issues are addressed and that they implement prevention measures to ensure that any ongoing family violence is prevented.

SIPSP Team Leader Inspector Warwick McKee states “We are really pleased to be back in the provinces and being able to assist the RSIPF with training and development of their people.”

It is pleasing to see how the RSIPF staff understand the importance of the Crime Prevention Strategy and how they apply it daily. It is critical for each RSIPF officer to implement crime prevention initiatives to prevent harm and victimisation in their communities before it happens.”

The training is well received and focusses on the RSIPF being the best that they can be daily to ensure the community receives the best service possible from their Police and constantly challenging themselves and their community to actively prevent crime from occurring.

The SIPSP and RSIPF partners are well on their way to ensure that RSIPF staff undergo the Crime Prevention Strategy training with more upcoming training scheduled for Honiara, Guadalcanal Province, Temotu Province and Western Province in the coming months.
