Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Lata police station received essential training based on Crime Prevention Strategy, refreshed Mindset and Family Violence training, delivered by the Solomon Island Police Support Programme (SIPSP) and RSIPF trainers recently in Temotu province.

This training allowed officers to understand the relationship between the RSIPF strategic direction, the RSIPF Crime Prevention Strategy and the work each RSIPF officers completes each day in their communities.

The officers also received refresher training on Family Violence and were encouraged to take positive steps to ensure victims of Family Violence are well supported, appropriately addressed and implement prevention measures to ensure any ongoing family violence is prevented.
Operation Manager in Temotu Province Inspector Walter Leleina says “It is great that our officers are receiving this valuable training again from Learning and Development and the NZ Police.”

We want the RSIPF to be leaders across the pacific in crime prevention and service delivery to our communities.

Inspector Leleina says, “This training is vital for the Police in Temotu to understand how they contribute to our organisation and challenges them to have the best frame of mind every day when they come to work”.

SIPSP Team Leader Inspector Warwick McKee says, “We are really pleased to be back in the provinces and being able to assist the RSIPF with trainings.”

The training is well received and focusses on the RSIPF being the best that they can be daily to ensure the community receives the best service possible from their Police and constantly challenging themselves and their community to actively prevent crime from occurring.

The RSIPF and SIPSIP partners will ensure that officers undergo Crime Prevention Strategy training with more upcoming training scheduled for Honiara, Guadalcanal, Western Province and Isabel in the coming months.
